Thermodynamic effects on the collapse of a cavitation bubble

The dynamic of a single cavitation bubble has been widely investigated in water at ambient temperature. In this project, we propose to study the influence of water temperature on the growth and collapse of a laser a single induced bubble. With the help of a high speed camera and pressure sensors, the follow-up of the bubble diameter and pressure impulse will be performed. The focus will be put on the vaporization process during the bubble growth with respect to water temperature. Depending on the results obtained, an infrared camera may be used to monitor the temperature inside the bubble during its life cycle.
