SPHEROS is a particle-based code, which stands on SPH and erosion. The code is developed at LMH to simulate free-surface flows in hydraulic machines and specifically silt erosion phenomena occurring in Pelton turbines.

The main features of SPHEROS are:

  • Massively parallel C++ programming
  • Octree neighbor search
  • Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) support
  • Discrete Element Method (DEM) support
  • Finite Particle Method (FPM) kernel correction

Weak scaling test on CADMOS Blue Gene/P has been performed (See Figure below).
