The Lagrangian approach Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) enables to simulate complex free surface flows such as in the case of a high-speed water jet. Moreover, the method is well suited to model the mixing of a two phases flow. The aim of this project is to simulate the Geneva water jet using SPHEROS, an in-house C++ SPH/FPM solver.
The student will launch FPM simulations of the Geneva jet for a given operating condition. The influence of the mixing of air and water has to be analyzed. The boundary particles are generated with Matlab and the visualization is performed with Paraview.
