Design of a tidal power plant including tidal turbine, pump and pelton turbine

Tidal current energy can be eligible as one of the most interesting renewable and clean energy resources with the promise of a regular and predictable production of electricity. In the framework of the “MWATFORCE” project, GUINARD Energies plans to install in Raz Blanchard a farm of 40 twin horizontal axis ducted turbines providing 160 MW. Those totally submerged ducted tidal turbine will drive multi-stage pumps supplying hydraulic energy to coastal power station equipped with Pelton turbines. The aim of this project is to design the best hydraulic layout by using the hydro acoustic software SIMSEN allowing to simulate the operation of the complete tidal power plant.
